Dar Residents to consult with
specialists from Apollo Hospitals
Tanzanians
should rush and take advantage of this golden opportunity of the clinical visit
of doctors from Apollo
Hospitals; Hyderabad. For several years, Tanzanians have failed to receive proper
care for or have ended up travelling outside the country to get treatment for kidney
and urinary related illnesses. The
objective of the consultations by the doctors from Apollo Hospitals is to
ensure that ailing patients receive the correct diagnoses without having to
incur great costs. The two leading
specialists at Apollo Hospitals will work in collaboration with doctors from Hindu Mandal
Hospital to provide international standard services to Tanzanians.
Patients suffering from
illnesses related to kidney and urine are urged to attend and participate in
this event. The doctors will be reaching out to patients for follow-ups,
reviewing patients’ medical history and advising on treatment as per submitted medical
reports.
The two day
consultation clinic is set to take place on Friday of 31st July and
Saturday 01st August at Hindu Mandal Hospital in Dar es Salaam. Patients
will have the opportunity to consult with Dr Rajagopal who is a urologist and
Dr. Sanjay Maitra a nephrologist between the hours of 9am to 5pm on both Friday
and Saturday. These consultation clinics will be conducted for a nominal fee.
Dr. Rajagopal specializes in diseases of the
urinary tract and the male reproductive system. He has been a senior
consulting urologist at the Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad since 1994.
Dr. Sanjay Maitra specialized
in nephrology. A nephrologist specializes in kidney care and treating
kidney related disease. They commonly treat chronic kidney disease (CKD),
polycystic disease (PKD), acute renal failure and kidney stones and are
educated on all aspects of kidney transplantation and dialysis. Dr. Sanjay Maitra has many years of experience
in the field of nephrology and has completed DM in Nephrology from AIIMS, New
Delhi. Dr. Sanjay Maitra has hands on training in kidney
transplantation both cadaveric as well as living donor, critical care renal
replacement therapy, management of long term hemodialysis and peritoneal
dialysis patients.
This is not the doctor’s
first visit to Dar es Salaam. This continuous collaboration with Hindu Mandal proves
Apollo Hospitals commitment in providing quality medical care and their
keenness to further enhance the relationship that had begun with Tanzania over
a decade ago.
During the days of
consultation, Dr. Sanjay Maitra and Dr. Rajagopal will be reviewing previous cases who
were treated by in Hyderabad or during the doctors’ last visit to Dar es
Salaam.
The doctors will
also be seeing new patients. During this time the doctors will enquire about the
patient’s history, examine the patient, discuss the possible causes for their
symptoms, discuss treatments available locally, possibly issue a prescription, and
arrange tests or referrals. In other case, depending on the severity of the
patient’s condition, patients may be advised to seek further medical treatment
outside the country for certain types of treatment not available in
Tanzania. During these sessions patients may discuss results and/or
reports of recently conducted tests with the doctors. This consultation
clinic is a golden opportunity for patients suffering from illness related to kidney and urinary
tract and need a second opinion or those that cannot afford to travel
abroad for further treatment.
