Matukio /Kimataifa : ECAir launching Brazzaville-Beirut service on 2 June

Following the inaugural Brazzaville-Beirut flight, ECAir will extend its regional network with the opening of services to the destinations of Abidjan, Yaounde, Bangui and N'Djamena

BRAZZAVILLE, Republic of the Congo, May 20, 2015/ -- ECAir, Equatorial Congo Airlines, (www.flyecair.com), the national airline of the Republic of the Congo, headed by Fatima BeyinaMoussa, who is also President of the AFRAA (African Airlines Association), is adding a new destination to its network.

As part of its expansion, ECAir is launching its Brazzaville-Beirut service on Tuesday, 2 June.

Beirut (Lebanese Republic) is a historic Middle Eastern capital, with numerous cultural, commercial and banking centres, as well as tourist sites.

This service, which will initially run bi-weekly (Tuesday and Saturday departing from Brazzaville; Wednesday and Sunday departing from Beirut), in collaboration with Trans Air Congo (TAC), responds to a growing demand from the Lebanese community living on the African continent as well as merchants. The third intercontinental route of Equatorial Congo Airlines, after Paris (2013) and Dubai (2014), will be flown on a Boeing 757.

ECAir's Boeing 757 will take off from Brazzaville at 11:30 am, arrive in Beirut at 8:20 pm, and take off again from Beirut at 9:30 am to land in Brazzaville at 2:30 pm. The price of this long-haul round-trip flight starts at XAF 560,000, or USD 972.

"The launch of this third intercontinental route fulfils the promise we made to our passengers: to offer them the ability to connect Central Africa to the Middle East," explains Fatima Beyina-Moussa, Managing Director of ECAir and President of AFRAA. "Opening up the Beirut destination strengthens relations between the Republic of the Congo and Lebanon. This is good news and a considerable time saver for passengers, particularly business people."

Following the inaugural Brazzaville-Beirut flight, ECAir, official carrier of the All-Africa Games (4–19 September in Brazzaville), will extend its regional network with the opening of services to the destinations of Abidjan, Yaounde, Bangui and N'Djamena.

ECAir, which has already carried close to one million passengers, will be organising the 47th General Meeting of AFRAA from 8 to 10 November 2015 in Brazzaville.
