        Maj Gen Levi Karuhanga

By Monitor Reporter

The Makindye based Court Martial Chairman Maj. Gen Levi Karuhanga is dead.
The 60-year-old Karuhanga was reportedly rushed to Nakasero hospital with abdominal complications and he had since been in critical condition.
The Army spokesperson Lt Col Paddy Ankunda confirmed the development.
“So sad, Gen Levi Karuhanga has passed on,” Mr Ankunda said in a tweet.
Karuhanga had just returned from India where he had an operation.
At the time of his death, Karuhanga was presiding over the trial of former intelligence chief Gen. David Sejusa.

In March this year, the General Court Martial suspended business after Karuhanga was admitted at Nakasero Hospital for sickness which the army then said it was not aware of.
The spokesperson of the Military Police, Capt Edward Birungi, who also doubles as the court’s spokesperson, said the court would not sit until the chairman gets well.
However, his demise leaves several cases including the trial of Gen Sejusa in balance.
