Kenya : Raila dismisses Uhuru-Ruto alliance as weak

By SAMMY JAKAA
Prime minister Raila Odinga has dismissed Uhuru-Ruto alliance terming it weak and unable to beat Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
The premier said if the two aspirants were confident of themselves, they would have gone to the ballot individually. Speaking in Ang’urai during his tour of Teso region, Odinga said ODM enjoys a nationwide support adding that it will win in the March 4 General Election. The PM further said most alliances were being formed to fight ODM and that they did not have the interests of Kenyans at heart.
“All those forming alliances to fight ODM are panicking due to our popularity. If they believe that Kenyans have confidence in them, they would have gone individually to the ballot box,” said Raila. He also expressed confidence in the IEBC and assured Kenyans that the coming elections will be free and fair. He further assured chiefs and assistant chiefs that they will not lose their jobs but will instead be restructured to fit in the new Constitution.
He was accompanied by ODM chairman Henry Kosgey, Regional development minister Fred Gumo, Local Government Minister Paul Otuoma and Labour Assistant Minister Sospeter Ojaamong. Mr Kosgey said Raila was the only presidential aspirant who will fully implement the Constitution and asked Kenyans to support his bid if they desire to see the fruits of the new Constitution.
